De Volksbank makes dividend payment of € 249 million for 2019 and 2020 to shareholder NLFI

Today, de Volksbank N.V. (de Volksbank) paid the remaining dividend for 2019 and the dividend for 2020 to its shareholder Stichting administratiekantoor beheer financiële instellingen (NLFI). This is in accordance with the announcement in de Volksbank’s Interim Financial Report 2021 of 13 August 2021. The dividend payment is made only now because earlier the European Central Bank (ECB) had recommended to exercise extreme prudence on dividends during the Covid-19 pandemic. On 23 July 2021 the ECB decided not to extend its recommendation after September 2021.

The reserved remaining dividend for 2019 amounts to € 145 million, after a partial payment of € 20 million in April 2021. The reserved dividend for 2020 amounts to € 104 million. As the reserved dividend has already been classified as debt in the balance sheet, the dividend payment does not affect the capital position of de Volksbank. The capital position remains as strong as ever.

The dividend payment fits in with the positive impact de Volksbank aims to realise with its strategy ‘better for each other – from promise to impact” for customers, society, employees and its shareholder alike. With the shared value approach the aim is to continuously maintain a balance between these stakeholders.
